I used this study with my 4 kids (ages ranging from 8 to 15). It is well written and easy to follow. Since the biography is thorough, we spread out the reading of it over a couple of weeks. I thought the author handled the unvirtuous aspects of Debussy’s life choices in a way that was both honest and tasteful. It was interesting to learn about how unconventional and groundbreaking his musical ideas were at the time.
Claud Debussy’s music is absolutely beautiful and we especially enjoyed our repeated listenings of Clair de lune!
