I have always dreamed of having the room that I read about that is called “the study” LOL. Someday I want a study.

We have a room that we began calling the “parlor”.  Wink

Yes, her room is simply gorgeous!  Thank you for sharing for the inspiration!  I did see some things that I would like to incorporate.  I really liked the little galvanized buckets with scissors and pencils in them nailed to the wall.  Very do-able!

I also really liked her post on the “first day of school”…wonderful reminders in there.

After school this week, I’m convinced we need her table space!  If only I had room for more tables in our schoolroom.  😉  By the time they had their binders, papers, scissors, color pencils, glue, etc. on the table, there was very little room left over!

We are painting our basement this weekend (which is our schoolroom area). I’m pregnant so my husband will be doing most of the painting, but I’ll be taping and helping where I can. Excited to get rid of the “baby poop” brown that is on the walls now. We are freshening up the walls with a nice light blueish gray. Can’t wait! Color can be such a great way to dramatically change a room.

We school in our kitchen, dining room, sun porch, family room, living room, bedrooms, etc… But, if I had a basement space, I would make it look much like that but with a bigger comfy couch and tv for movie nights and documentaries and youtube stuff for school. Someday if we own a home with a basement, I would do it. Of course, I know we would still school all over the place, but having a designated room to contain everything would be lovely. Good to see this for inspiration.

I mentioned we were painting our basement this past weekend. Well…the results are in! I posted some photos of our new and much improved playroom/schoolroom space on my blog. Hope you will check it out and let me know what you think! 🙂

Beautiful! I especially like the built in his/hers fort and the colorful eclectic artwork.

One thing that I think a true CM school room HAS to have (unlike other homeschool rooms I have seen) is a COUCH! We have to snuggle up and read!

As much as I dream of a ‘school room’ at times, I have to admit that I like the fact that we spread the feast all over the house with books, artwork, projects, etc. I think of CM education as too big to be confined to one room of the house-though there are days I wish I could contain the mess!

Maybe a playroom/bookroom with a couch and a big craft island? If we could get all of that in a room we would be on to something…

Our school room doesn’t have a couch, but we use our living room couch right outside the school room door!

Missceegee, I’m dying to see your room!  MountainMamma, I love what you created.  I’m inspired, but serious lack of moeny and time make it so I can only dream right now.  Maybe after April next year and we get the rest of our tax refund from the adoption of our two new blessings I will have the money.  At least I have time to plan. 🙂

Thanks so much! Baymoose, as far as the money part goes… most of the stuff in that room was given to us or Craigslist/thrift store bought. We got the 5 gallon bucket of paint for the room at Home Depot for $20 (normally $125!). And time… I can only credit the amazing super-nesting powers that pregnancy gives you. My body was feeling the extra fatigue today though!

MountainMamma, I love your room!   It’s fun!  And I especially love the fort!
