Anne –
I’ve been recommending this guide to everyone! I was gushing so much about about the Jane Eyre guide that I was given a copy of this guide, which was perfect since my online reading group is reading Ivanhoe this year.
The list of characters and historical context sections are my favorites. I also find the discussion questions and narration prompts helpful and would love to use this guide in a book club or class setting. I’ve heard of people getting confused with Ivanhoe’s cast of characters, but with this guide, that hasn’t been a problem for me at all. I’m looking forward to using it in a few years when my daughter reads Ivanhoe.
I am an author and English teacher, but I mainly teach composition and creative writing. I have always struggled with literature. These guides are great classroom resources and have helped me to know how to teach literature. I am going to get the Scarlet Letter guide and can’t wait to see which guide comes next.
