I was considering hosting something with a few local moms to watch these DVDs together. My questions are firstly, is this okay with the SCM team? Are there any size constraints to playing the DVDs in a group? It wouldn’t be an overly large group (maybe 5) and I wouldn’t be charging anything.

Secondly, any advice from people who have already done this? Did you do it over weeks, or do an actual full day?

Thank you kindly for all the help!

If I remember right they just ask that you have each attending purchase their own seminar notebook (or you buy enough for the group).  Love the AllDay Seminar.

Those attending need to purchase the notebook to allow for public viewing.

http://simplycharlottemason.com/groupvideo/ walks you through how to host your own CM Seminar.

It’s a great way to introduce CM to others, or to refresh and encourage those who have already been using CM methods.

Our homeschool group will be hosting a second All Day Seminar in February.  The first one was a hit.  You and those you invite will certainly be blessed.

This is perfect, thank you! I’m very excited about doing this, and hope I can get a few ladies together!

It works well. I’ve offered it many times.

I hosted the SCM All-Day Seminiar back in September. I had 10 ladies come. It was a wonderfully enriching time. Most of them had never heard of Charlotte Mason before, and most left excited to buy some new resources and try a different method. I e-mailed a registration form to all the local homeschoolers whose email addresses I had. I also offered a lunch from a local coffee shop. The cut-off date for the event was about 2 weeks prior so that I could get notebooks ordered for everyone and submit my lunch order. The cost per person was $18 if they ordered the workbook and lunch. We started at 9:30 a.m., breaked for lunch at 12:00, and finished up around 4:00 that afternoon. We stopped and had several Q&A times during the day, and I was the main person answering questions since I was hosting and also because I was the most familiar with CM. I hosted the event at my church, but for a smaller group, my living room would have been the perfect spot.

Let me know if you have any specific questions! I think hosting an event like this is the best way to spread the word about CM and to develop a CM-focused group of friends.

Planning on offering this to a group, too, so it is good to hear how others have done it! I don’t think there is a better resource for teaching how to make CM methods really work in your home/school.

It’s great to hear that hosting our DVD seminars is so well-received! Thanks for sharing your stories, everyone.

For those planning a showing for larger groups, our store will give you a 10% discount on the notebooks if you purchase 10 or more in the same order, or 20% off 20 or more. Smile

If it’s a group of moms that you know, consider a potluck lunch.

OK, so I should probably do this since CM is generally rather under-represented in the area. Although something tells me that having the SCM team at  big Expo this spring will make a difference (and I’ve already been talking you guys up on various area homeschool FB groups, so people are getting curious).

Wheels in my head are turning….
