Hello all,
Wondering if any of you have any great tips for traveling to Williamsburg, VA? We’re headed that way next week and want to take advantage of as much as we can… hopefully, the weather will hold out.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!
MonicaWings2flyParticipantHere is an older post.
We went in 2012. Loved it! Can’t wait to go back. I wish I would have asked about teacher I’d discount with HSLDA. But my dd was age 5 1/2 and was free (under age 6), but still old enough to remember it. We plan to go back in 2020.
missceegeeParticipantWe loved everything we did, but the mock witch trial was our favorite.
erin.kateParticipantI live in Williamsburg, about a mile from Colonial Williamsburg, within the city. I’d be happy to answer any and all questions you might have … weather looks good next week until Friday. 🙂
Raquel GParticipantWe were there last spring & will be going again at the end of the month. If you’re looking for non-colonial activities last year we took our then 2.5 year old to the Virginia Living Museum & the Virginia Air & Space Center. Neither are IN Williamsburg but not too far to drive. They were wonderful outings for us. If you have a membership at an ASTC reciprocal museum/science center you will get in free. Mid County Park has an incredible playground.
moralesmlParticipantThank you all for taking the time to reply! Great tips… Gives me lots to look over!
@erin.kate… I’ll take you up on that in the next few days….thank you@wingstofly… I’m not very good at using the search feature, so thank you for the link….
we’re forward to going and with all these tips I’m definitely getting excited!
Did any of you happen to get over to Mt Vernon?
Wings2flyParticipantYes, we spent our last day at George Washington’s home, Mt. Vernon, before heading home. There was much to see and do there besides the house and grounds tour, including a museum with films and live lambs and a children’s play area with dolls and dollhouse of Mt. Vernon to play with. Also a blacksmith at work. It was well worth our visit. Their website has a virtual Mt. Vernon for kids to play a mystery game to find hidden treasures, which are unusual antiques actually from Mt. Vernon, which they learn about. Do you have any specific questions?
I just loved our whole trip, one of the greatest.
