Wow, lots of takers and questions while I sleep. Here’s my official thoughts:

    1. Do you have to read the original or can you read the modern English version?

It’s up to you! I’m reading the original personally, but if that would hold you back from joining us by all means dive in with the modern English version!

    2. Do I have to read every book with the group?

Nope, join in when and where you want.

    3. Do I have to read all of each book?

Nope, life happens. Just join in the discussion where you want and when a new selection begins move on!

    4. Where will we discuss this?

Unless Sonya objects I say right here in the forum already created to discuss the Original Homeschooling Series. (SCM Discussion Forum » CM Educating » Original Homeschooling Series)

    5. How will discussion work?

    A couple of ways:

If you come across something in your reading you want thoughts on post the reference here (either type the text out or give us the beginning with a page reference). Be sure you start the topic in the right forum (Original Homeschooling Series, not general forum).

Every other week at least I hope to post some discussion starters about things from the current volume. If someone else wants to help out with this I’m certainly open to that, pm me!

Near the end of our 2 month reading period I’ll also plan to post a “final thoughts” discussion where we can share what has impacted us the most from that volume.

I look forward to reading with everyone! Remember, you can find the books free online and can download them to a Kindle as well for free. Let me know if you need links.

And if I missed anyone’s question or you think of another just post it in this thread.

Please do! That’s why this section of the forum was created. Enjoy.

Where can you download them to a Kindle for free?  I’m willing to try the original language particularly if that is what is discussed.

    Sonya – thank you!

Alicia – Scroll clear to the bottom of this page at Ambleside Online: http://www.amblesideonline.org/CM/toc.html

There are several formats, one of which will work with Kindle (the one by Blossom Barden in .prc format). You’ll have to download the file to your computer, plug your Kindle cord in, and drag and drop the files into your Kindle’s Documents folder. Enjoy!

I have a Kindle app on my iPad.  I don’t think I can plug the iPad into the computer.

artcmonto3 – does your Kindle App have an email address like a Kindle would?  you should be able to email them to the Kindle app on your iPad if it does….  (I only have a Kindle, so I’m not sure on that….)

It should have some way to move your personal documents to it for the Kindle app….

Alicia – the other formats at the bottom of the page list a set for Stanza, which is a free App for the Ipad. 🙂

    Enjoy!

Sukukimom, yes, I think so.  Everything goes through my regular email.  When I go through Amazon I can select to send an ebook for Kindle to my iPad.  I think I just don’t know what I am doing. 😛 I’m not computer illiterate; this is just all new to me.  I’m not sure how to download the links on AO’s website.  When I click on the links provided I get a page with unreadable information.

I am going to try as well.  I have been meaning to as it is recommended to “read them for yourself”, but I have just not taken the time.  Even if I can’t keep up, I will enjoy the discussions that will follow, I’m sure.

Thanks for starting this Tristan and God bless you and the babe.

OK, I figured it out!  Thanks, Suzukimom!
Tristan, excited about this!  Great idea!  Thanks for heading it up.  Not sure how much I can contribute, but I will learn a lot.

I’ll be reading as well…and Tristan, I am praying for you and the baby, as well as your family.  I am glad that you were able to know about this early, and can be somewhat prepared.  😉  What is the link to your blog again?  I thought I bookmarked it, but can’t find it. =/

I’d like to join in, too!  Home Education has been staring at me for a few months now; a little accountability will be a big motivator.  And yes, it will be a “stiff” read as some mentioned in a post last week about what books we should be reading, but I’m looking forward to it.

Thank you, Tristan!  This will be great.

Will we have to narrate what we’ve been reading? (Wink.)
