So heres what we came up with.  My son will be going to that part at 5 and staying till 930pm.  I just said to him that some of the kids will be spending the night but not all parents are ready for that and I’m one of them.  My dh didn’t say much, but maybe I left out the part about most staying, ahhhh.  Darby (my son) is totally fine with that and thought that staying up till 930 is great and he’s very excited.  Misty

Glad you found a solution:)  We’ve been through the same situation.  My daughter has been to two birthday sleepovers where she had to come home while everyone else (or most eveyone else) stayed overnight.  It’s hard, because she would like to stay and I know the other family may get offended, but her safety is more important.  We know a whole family of girls molested at church events, a local elder who molested a young girl from his church, etc.   I read on a homeschool forum of a mom whose kids played at small group together and her son’s best friend (a nice homeschool teenager) was caught trying to get her daughter to do something improper.  Sounds terrible, but you just can’t trust anyone.

Even when just playing at someone’s house, if the dad is home we only allow if we are very comfortable with the dad and my daughter is instructed to never allow herself to be alone in a room with a dad.

Glad your son is happy with the arrangement!!   Gina
