Mysterious lady, on another recent thread I asked if anyone had trouble, like me, downloading to the fire. Heather posted how she did it and I followed her instructions. Basically, once the kindle files are downloaded to the PCM, extract them all to a new folder on the desktop. Hook up the fire to the PCM and open the books folder under the kindle device window from your computer. Then open your kindle file folder, select a few books at a time, copy and paste them into your kindle fire books folder (instead of the docs folder like yc tells you to do). Although the files were placed in the books folder, they show up in the documents category on the fire. Very strange….I would have never figured that out on my own.
For the ipad, I searched on YouTube “how to download ePub files to the ipad”. It was confusing, but I downloaded all the yc ePub files to the PC and extracted all the files to a new separate folder on my PC desktop. I signed into itunes with my apple id, opened iTunes music folder, dragged the desktop yc ePub file folder into iTunes, and shortly after this the books showed up in the book section of my pc’s iTunes window. Then I hooked the ipad up to the PC with the USB cord, clicked an option somewhere in the iTunes window from the PC that said sync (this may have come up by itself or I may have found it as a sidebar to a library section or file on the left side of the iTunes window beside books or music). At some point iTunes asked me to select all or to select individual titles to sync. I selected “all” and hit the apply button at the bottom of that page.
Again, transferring the books to both devices was new and confusing for me, I am new to using iTunes so the YouTube video helped me better than the yc instructions, and I may have described the way it worked for me on the ipad in the wrong order since it was confusing when I did it. I don’t remember which youtube video it was, but if you do a search for transferring books from computer to ipad, you should find a similar video. I hope it helps you, even if I described the process incorrectly.
On a lighter note, after spending an hour figuring out how to transfer the yc collection to the new ipad from the PC, everything else on my new ipad is so easy to use and figure out. I am LOVING the ipad!!!
