    List your favorite living books about birds, preferably ones that can be read in one sitting.  Some of ours:

    -Henry the Impatient Heron
    -Flute’s Journey:  the Life of a Wood Thrush
    -Backyard Birds of Summer/Winter

    Burgess Bird Book (many chapters but each chapter can be read on its own and in any order).

    Among the … People books have a few chapters on birds.  Each can be read on its own as well.
