I took the advise of several others and bought only the EFTRU cards and not the book.  Could you give me some ideas about how to go about tackling these?  Thanks!

My girls copy the cards into their EFTRU notebooks to help them memorize them and then we put the cards in a memory box that is set up just like the SCM scripture memory box. We then review them quickly on a daily basis, along with our poetry, Shakespeare, sign language, and math facts.

Check the links I posted here – https://simplycharlottemason.com/scmforum/topic/english-from-the-roots-up-helpful-resources

I’m using the cards with the sheets from ttkreations with 7,10, and 13 yo this coming year.

Which part of the card do you use like the SCM memory box? The meaning of the root or all the definitions of the words with that root?

For us, we basically use the root word and the meaning, although sometimes I ask them to give me some examples of words that they would see the root word in. It’s short, sweet, and effective. They will see a word with the root in it and it usually starts a game to see who can remember the most rootwords. It’s fun.
