I am a homeschooling mom to 3 children. 1st grade and K. I need help finding a Language Arts curriculum that has everything you need for LA but has a charlotte mason flair. I am using CLE (Christian Light Education) right now and it works fine but I would like one more aligned with Charlotte Mason style. I am open to any and all suggestions. 🙂 Thank you and God Bless.

English lessons through literature is great. Level A would be appropriate for grade 1 or 2. It doesn’t contain phonics instruction, we use phonics pathways and the reading lesson (for different children).
The good and the beautiful is not as Charlotte Mason, it’s more of a combination of traditional and Charlotte mason. It has phonics built in, and has pre-K and up.
Language Lessons for today, they have grade 2 and up, but the grade 2 is more of a K-1 level in my opinion, you could do that level with both children, it’s very gentle and a good one to start with. It doesn’t contain phonics.
Having phonics separated for me is easier, as they can go at their own pace.
Having said that, My Fathers World includes all subjects and is Charlotte masonish. I haven’t tried it, but have thought about it. I think they still use language lessons for today.

For 2nd and 3rd grade, my favorite is Primary Language Lessons by Emma Serl. It’s sweet and gentle, and I always enjoy the time it gives me with my little ones. It includes a gentle introduction to grammar, copy work, picture study and poetry.
For those grades, a true CM LA curriculum will basically be learn to read and copy work.

Seconding Primary Language Lessons. No bells and whistles, just simple, inexpensive, varied exposure to language and beauty.

As you are looking for language arts that aligns with a Charlotte Mason philosophy, it may be helpful for you to know how the various subjects encompassed in the term “language arts” are taught in CM.
In our Learning Library there are several helpful article series and a video that will help you have a better understanding of how and when various parts of language arts are taught.
Subject by Subject goes through all school subjects and describes how they are taught using CM. There are several articles in the series that cover the subjects that fall under the language arts umbrella.
Language Arts in the Charlotte Mason Method focuses just on language arts.
The Natural Progression of Language Arts is a video that gives you the big picture of which parts of language arts are introduced at each grade level and how those all come together in the later years.

OP said Charlotte Mason flair, so…. just depends on how CM you want to take it. Language Lessons for today is very similar to Primary Language Lessons, just slightly revised right?
