Probably a good idea to choose one and stick with it, I was just playing This one is of my ‘goofy’ girls. My two dd’s and my wonderful daughter in law 🙂
I once had an avatar, then one morning I signed in and it wasn’t there! Anyone know where it went? I had to have my techie son do it in the first place, and he’s working away from home this summer!
Your avatar is tied to your e-mail address. So if you updated your e-mail address on your forum login then it wouldn’t know how to find your picture. You can go to http://gravatar.com and create a new account for your e-mail address, or log into your existing account and add the new address.
And for those who are just adding an avatar now, sometimes it does take a little while to process and more posts won’t make it show up sooner. Eventually it will update even on your old posts.
I tried to sign up but it said my username was already taken (ladyofthehouse). If I sign up with them using a different username is that the name that will show up here? Anyone know?
I’m funny about posting pictures online, but I love the painting I chose.
Even if you don’t post a photo of yourself the picture you choose still helps others get to know you because it says something about who you are. So we encourage that too.
Sometimes I feel as though we forego the notion of protecting privacy when it comes to the internet. I don’t think it is unusual or unfriendly to avoid posting a picture of yourself in the form of an avatar. Everyone needs to feel personally comfortable with that decision.
Having said that, the reason I choose to post a Georgia O’Keefe painting is simple…..I don’t have a digital camera (or even a cellphone camera), so I have nothing to download! I can’t tell you the last time I had my picture taken. I’m just not into personal photos.
yup – privacy is part of why I didn’t put up a picture of my 3 kids playing violin (to match the suzukimom tag…) and there are a number of reasons (privacy is one) that I didn’t put up a recent picture of me. But a picture of me from 40 years ago… that I felt I could do!
