My picture is of my husband’s and son’s feet at the beach from about 5 years ago…those pudgy little feet make me realize how fast they grow!!  -Tanya

I work from an iPad and the gravatar site doesn’t seem to want to accept a URL when I try to paste one, but when I try the download from your hard drive option it won’t let me select something out of my photos either………anyone else set this up from an iPad and how did you do it?

I’m not sure about the URL problem. You might try pasting the URL into Safari and see if it brings up the picture okay. It would have to be a URL to only a picture and not a whole web page containing the picture with other things.

The iPad doesn’t have a way to upload a picture to a web site like a computer does. So if you want to use that method you would need to do it on a computer.

Okay, okay, you’ve twisted my arm.  I’ve thought about it since I first read this post, but haven’t had the time to figure out how until today.  Thanks for twisting my arm!Wink

Is there any other way to do an avatar besides through gravatar.com?  Heather bumping this up put it back on my list of things to do.  I do have a WordPress account with another forum/blog I run, but it’s set to log me in automatically every time.  I evidently have no clue what that password is….  But I don’t want to reset the password for fear of what it’ll do to my forum/blog.  Surprised  I *must* be able to get into that.  Ideas?

    Sara B,

I’m in the same boat, I want to be a participator but can’t overcome the tech issues with Gravitar. (I use an iPad for everything since our computer died last fall.)

I do have a WordPress account with another forum/blog

If you have a wordpress.com account (not hosted on your own), you can go to the admin bar at the top of the page, choose the “Me” menu, and choose “Edit my profile”. Then on the right side of the page is a place to upload your picture. Your WordPress.com account is the same as your Gravatar account since the same company runs both services.

If you do have to reset your password it’s no big deal. They’ll just e-mail you a new one and you log in with that. But since you log in automatically, you can simply go into your account and set the password to whatever you like.

I’d like to see if I can figure out how to make this work. A few questions to get started:

    1. Do you have a photo on your iPad you want to use?
    2. If yes, what app is it in?
    3. Do you have the iPad 2 with the cameras?

Another other option is to tell Gravatar to go get an image you have somewhere else on the Internet, like Facebook or Flickr.

    Doug,

The only place right now that I have images is Photos the app that comes with the iPad. I transfered some art images into there to use for our picture study so I could just use one of those as my picture if we could figure out how to grab it.

No I don’t have an iPad 2, “just” the old one :o)

I’m open to any suggestions and it sounds like you are up for a challenge!

Well, we host ourselves, so I guess I can’t upload a pic directly on the WordPress blog?  It’s part of the whole website I own & my dh set up for me.  I will attempt a password change (which I think I am changing to the same thing, but who knows).  Thanks, Doug.

Update: Well, I tried the new password – no luck.  Any more ideas, I hope?  🙂

I think I have an image now. I already have a wordpress blog and a gravatar account. Didn’t know it was that easy. Let’s see if it worked.

My image was taken on our trip to China last summer at the Forbidden City, which was once home to China’s emporers.
