Probably a good idea to choose one and stick with it, I was just playing This one is of my ‘goofy’ girls. My two dd’s and my wonderful daughter in law 🙂
Doug SmithKeymasterI once had an avatar, then one morning I signed in and it wasn’t there! Anyone know where it went? I had to have my techie son do it in the first place, and he’s working away from home this summer!
Your avatar is tied to your e-mail address. So if you updated your e-mail address on your forum login then it wouldn’t know how to find your picture. You can go to http://gravatar.com and create a new account for your e-mail address, or log into your existing account and add the new address.
And for those who are just adding an avatar now, sometimes it does take a little while to process and more posts won’t make it show up sooner. Eventually it will update even on your old posts.
missceegeeParticipantI’m funny about posting pictures online, but I love the painting I chose.
LadyofthehouseMemberI tried to sign up but it said my username was already taken (ladyofthehouse). If I sign up with them using a different username is that the name that will show up here? Anyone know?
suzukimomParticipantNo, the username doesn’t need to match…. it bases it on your email address. My username here was already used there too….
missingtheshireMemberI see your point, not everyone likes a photo though, still it is good to put something meaningful up. Linda

Even if you don’t post a photo of yourself the picture you choose still helps others get to know you because it says something about who you are. So we encourage that too.
missingtheshireMemberMy doggie avatar disappeared – hmmm….must put that right. Linda
missingtheshireMemberOk let us see if my Avatar shows up now – it is of my home town in England. Linda
SueParticipantSometimes I feel as though we forego the notion of protecting privacy when it comes to the internet. I don’t think it is unusual or unfriendly to avoid posting a picture of yourself in the form of an avatar. Everyone needs to feel personally comfortable with that decision.
Having said that, the reason I choose to post a Georgia O’Keefe painting is simple…..I don’t have a digital camera (or even a cellphone camera), so I have nothing to download! I can’t tell you the last time I had my picture taken. I’m just not into personal photos.
suzukimomParticipantyup – privacy is part of why I didn’t put up a picture of my 3 kids playing violin (to match the suzukimom tag…) and there are a number of reasons (privacy is one) that I didn’t put up a recent picture of me. But a picture of me from 40 years ago… that I felt I could do!
cedargirlParticipantOh my! I am so happy to see all these pictures! Applause! thank you for expressing yourself with portraits and art works!
SueParticipantOkay, I just switched my gravatar to a “flag and fireworks” image. (Our Independence Day celebration is coming up.)
Apparently, I have too much time on my hands!
hyb222MemberHope I got this right?
havefaithpleaseMemberI love seeing everyone’s pictures/avatars! How fantastic Thank you all for sharing a part of yourselves! Mine is my two boys.
