Learning and Living: Homeschooling the Charlotte Mason Way DVD Set

About a year ago, my husband John and I were driving home from a convention and discussing how we might be able to help more people understand the Charlotte Mason Method. (We’ve found that drive times are perfect times for brainstorming new ideas.)

We had just spent several weekends talking with people at the Simply Charlotte Mason booth, answering questions and giving suggestions about homeschooling the Charlotte Mason way. We had met eager new homeschoolers who were thrilled to learn about Charlotte; we had chatted with happy parents who had been doing Charlotte Mason for years and just wanted to fine tune the methods; we had encouraged veteran homeschoolers who had been using other approaches, had burned out, and were looking for something different.

So many stories. So many people at different points along the journey.

As we rounded a bend on the highway, John asked a question that seemed to hang in the air: “Do we have a comprehensive training tool that will take a person from A to Z with the Charlotte Mason Method?”

I had to admit that we didn’t. Oh, we had many resources that would help a person learn about various aspects of Charlotte Mason, but we didn’t have one comprehensive A to Z package.

That question became the topic of discussion for the rest of the trip and continued to dominate our attention for the months that followed. Eventually, we outlined a Preschool through High School what-you-need-to-know course and traveled to Jacksonville, Florida, with high hopes to present and video-record it as a live conference. The response was great at the live event, and we set to work on the video project with the goal of making that A to Z course available to everyone.
