Yesterday, my young daughter asked me, "Who IS Charlotte Mason, anyway?"

And I wondered whether there has ever been a book written for modern children about Charlotte Mason. I answered her question, but I thought how neat it would be if there was a picture book biography about Miss Mason. Does anyone know of one? My searches have turned up….nothing.

I think you should write one.  😉

There is a picture book biography about Anna Comstock, author of The Handbook of Nature Study.  We found it at our local library a few months back, but I can’t remember the title…

Oooh, I’d love to read about Anna Comstock! I’m really loving the picture biography trend and we read a lot of them.

Now that two people have encouraged me to write about Charlotte for children…the thought grows!

I think it’s called “Out of School and Into Nature”.

I did look at the Anna C. picture book on Amazon and it’s just beautiful! Thank you, ladies, for the recommendation, which is now in my shopping cart. I love books like this, that illuminate the lives (especially childhoods) of people in history with appealing art. We have recently read similar books about Gregor Mendel, John James Audubon, and Emily Dickinson. I also have a longer picture book about E.B. White that is marvelously illustrated, in a whimsical, mixed-media style. Which is one way I can imagine my future Charlotte Mason children’s book being illustrated. Watercolor and mixed media.
