Have any of you used Handwriting by George and/or classical Copywork from memoria press? If so what ages did you start and what did you think? I have GWash.’s rules of civilty already, just not in the letter form he’s learning. I have Reason for Handwriting and I am having him just copy the last day’s Bible verse instead of drudging thru the boring work of copying individual words. And we only do that one time since he writes in something everyday in other subjects. He already doesn’t like it so I don;t want to make it worse. He actually has neat h/w for a boy his age.

We do not have either of the books you mentioned, but we do have A Reason for Handwriting. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but when I actually started using it, I thought the same thing you do. However, I’ve learned from my many mistakes that most any book can be used the CM way and the children really got into using the verses as a means to share the gospel and encourage others. They started choosing the person they wanted to send it to and colored the picture just right for that person. It brought joy into what could have been mundane. It was also fun for them to receive a letter back every once in awhile. Just an idea!

    Blessings,

    Cindy
