I just wanted to mention this unique program for anyone interested in looking into it. The website is http://www.writemindededucation.com. Today I talked at length to Judy Rhodes, who developed the program. The website does not really explain how it works, but after talking to Judy and having her explain it, it sounds like something that will help my daughter, who has a language-based disability. This can be used with any age, and it is something that can be used year after year, with any book the child reads. I understand the method, but I cannot explain it the way Judy told me, so I won’t even try. She does attend some homeschool conventions. She said she is getting ready to attend one in Colorado.

All I will say right now is that I have it ordered. I am really excited about using this with my daughter. If anyone is interested in learning more about it, call Judy Rhodes and talk to her. (703-477-3303) She is such a sweet lady, who says she just loves helping people. She said she uses this with ESL individuals as well. As she explained it to me, I became more and more excited about using it. To buy the kit it seems costly, but like I said, you can use it year after year. It builds as they go along. They are learning parts of speech and parts of sentences, but without worrying about labeling them. What they write will be in a notebook. It would cover all aspects of language, but she did still recommend a spelling book, just to learn more words. This method is a great way to increase vocabulary. After we use it a while, I will share how it is going. But, I thought maybe there would be someone here who would be interested in knowing about it now. I’m sure it would even work for students who aren’t struggling.

I will try to answer questions if anyone has any, but talking to Judy would be the best thing.

Judy, the lady I mentioned above will be at CHEC conference in Colorado this week. She will be speaking and giving a presentation of how the program works. Just wanted to mention it if someone going to that is interested in learning more about this method.
