This is my first year implementing the CM education in our home. I have completed planning, buying resources and we are starting in July. We are using SCM complete curriculum guide for the most part. However, I am using the math programs that best fit each of my sons learning styles. I am also not going to use Analytical grammar. Anyway, I was wondering if there are any other families that are implementing the SCM curriculum or have been using it for years that would like to share weekly or monthly updates about how it is going. I thought it may be helpful to hear about things that are working well for one family and how they go about being successful at it. On the other side, it would also be great to be able to discuss road blocks and obstacles that we face and maybe receive some much needed encouragement or advice. Anyone interested in doing something like this?
I’d love to participate in a “what are you doing this week?” kind of posting, if that would be helpful. Although we won’t be active in a strict “curricular” sense til fall…
Sounds great to me. I always wonder if we’re doing too much (probably not) or not enough. Or I think that I must be the most boring teacher/mom alive…maybe some ideas of what we all did for the week would spark something (in me, especially:).
This would be a great learning experience as I’m still new at CM. And I wouldn’t mind sharing what is working or not working for us…

This year (starting in September) will be my first year homeschooling. I would love to get involved in this — share ideas and advice (and panic attacks) with fellow Homeschooling moms on a regular basis!
Great! I think this will be so helpful for many of us. It doesn’t matter when you are starting up either. Just enjoy the thread and jot down any ideas or share your wisdom until the time when you start. After that, start sharing your weekly successes and the “did we do anything right this week?” moments. Our family will be starting July 18. I will try to post something every Friday night or Saturday morning to get the weekly thread started. Feel free to beat me to the punch and start a “weekly update” thread first. I know this thread will be so beneficial for me, because CM is so new to me. I also encourage veteran CM’ers to chime in and give their two-cents. Words cannot express how thankful I am for the advice and know-how I have received from veteran homeschoolers. Your input is always welcome. I look forward to starting this soon. For all of those who are interested in doing this, we should come up with a specific title of the thread that we will use every week, so we know how to find it. I would love to hear any suggestions for that.

Well, we could just call it “Hey! Look what we did this week” or add the date to it: “Hey! Look what we did this week, 6/12-6/18” or “This week at home, 6/12-6/18.” Or….”From our home to yours, 6/12-6/18.”
Our family is taking a summer break, but it would still be fun to report in about our summer adventures, especially as they pertain to “an atmosphere….a discipline….a life.”
