    I am trying to find a one-year world geography curriculum for elementary through junior high (or at least upper-elementary).  I prefer something that is already planned out.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Check out my plan for next year (we’ll be using it for high school down to preschool).

    My Father’s World has Exploring Countries and Cultures.  It has some CM principles, too.

    I like Mapping the World with Art by Ellen McHenry.

    @Tristan, great geography blog post.

    I have my eye on Mapping the World with Art and can’t wait to use it with my kids but I think they are too young now. What age do you think is a good age for this curriculum?  (I’ve even thought of getting it just for me to use right now bc I’m so eager to do it yet I have to restrain myself bc I have many other such learning activities for me already that I need to get to!)

    Tristan, love your plan. My boys LOVE Man Eating Bugs. :). I am planning to use the Trail Guide as well next year….and will glean some great ideas from your blog post. Thanks!

    I’m really excited about it Katrina, and so are the kids.  We’re ready to start exploring the world.  Share any great resources or books you come across!

    Tristan, I’ve thought it dozens of times so I probably should go ahead and say it.  You amaze me!  I probably could get through this geography plan in a year if that was the only subject we were doing! Embarassed  I don’t even know how you find the time to blog, let alone plan, homeschool, cook…  You do sleep, don’t you?  Anyway, I really like seeing the resources you are using.  I’ve had my eye on Trail Guide for a few years also but haven’t tackled any sort of plan for geography other than pulling out the globe on a nearly daily basis to identify what location we’re talking about for something else.  I also really appreciate the links to the living books lists.  Can’t wait to start going through those!  Thanks!

    Shannon,

    You’re too sweet and made me laugh this morning.  Yes, we’ll get through the geography plan, but it will be our big focus.  Besides that we’ll have science, math, literature, and a mix of fine arts.  Writing will generally come from writing about something we read in geography or history, with lots of oral narrations for most of the kids.

    Yes, I sleep, usually from about 10:30pm – 6:00am, with a few awake times with little men.  I get blogging done in spurts, scheduling some posts ahead of time so it seems I have more regular time than I do.  I cook simple meals, the kids help. And I really love what I do!

    You’ll notice that list is missing a lot of things because I don’t do them.  I don’t do field trips every week.  I don’t cook anything fancy.  I never iron, mop about once every six months, and the kids do most chores while I oversee and train the littler chore helpers.  I don’t go to the gym, have crafty hobbies like scrapbooking that take time, or have a job besides mothering these precious children.  My kids are not in sports and don’t have activities multiple days/nights per week.  (As a matter of fact the only activity night is Tuesday.)  We’re not in a co-op.  None of these things are bad, they just don’t fit in my life!

    Enjoy the book lists!

    Kudo, I haven’t used it yet, but the testimonials look great and I believe I saw it listed here on the bookfinder for Geography– http://www.visualizeworldgeography.com/
