Just curious when and what you all teach for grammar for a 3rd grader? She is still learning to spell well and read. Lots of people are telling me to start now and others say wait. If I start now, what should I use?  I don’t want diagraming right off the top. Someone said Intermediate Language Lessons? Thoughts?

Just my opinion…  Let her get a good grasp on phonics and then begin her 2-3 times a week with some gentle grammar and transcription lessons from Using Language Well.

Our The Natural Progression of Language Arts video from our Learning Library gives an overview of when to introduce each component of language arts in a Charlotte Mason education.

Usually, by third grade a child is ready to start learning grammar name transitioning from copywork to dictation. We recommend using the first half each of Spelling Wisdom Book 1 and Using Language Well Book 1 for third grade. The second half of each book is used for fourth grade.
