    Hi There,

There is a sale at Office Maxx for laminating. It’s 77 cents a page! Unfortunately I already spent lots more a few weeks ago laminating chore cards for the kids. But I would like to take advantage of the special price and a coupon I have.

So far, I’ve laminated an ABC template for my 5yr old as well as a printout of dominoes to cut up and use with her.

My children’s ages are 13, 11, 11, and 5. What else would you find handy to laminate?

    Thanks so much!

This does not directly answer your question, but do you have a Mardel near you? They have a laminating machine that you laminate it and it costs $.25 per foot.

I’m in shock!!! $.25 per foot? I paid $1.18 per letter sized page a few weeks ago! I have never seen or heard of a Mardel but I’m going to look for one.

I thought this was a good sale so I wanted to take advantage of it….little did I know!

I’m thinking of printing off the “memory game” at Jan Brett’s site and laminating that. It’s so beautiful! I’m game for any more ideas.

I wonder at what point is it worth it to purchase your own laminating machine? I wonder if it’s really cost effective in the long run? I just love how much longer things last when laminated.

    Thanks for the reply!

I went ahead and purchased a laminating machine for around $80 on sale at Michaels; the refills are around $18 for a 50-foot roll. In addition the machine has interchangeable refills that will do laminate on one side and adhesive on the other; just adhesive on one side; and laminate on one side and magnet on the back. I have used it a lot! I created a day/month/weather chart for my son; have laminated alphabet workbook sheets for copywork; and use it for crafting, etc.

How much will it save in the long run? I can’t really say. But it’s something I use a lot and will continue to use for years to come. It’s a Xyron 900.

Perhaps the kids could laminate some of their artwork to use as placemats (which could make gifts for grandparents at Christmas). Or laminate maps to use in the kitchen as placemats or just to have posted in the kitchen.

If you need them, homeschooler teacher/student ID cards could be laminated.

how about maps, bingo games, math grids or number charts?
