I have a 10yo with down syndrome a 5 and 2yo at home also. My 15yo attends private school.

What books would you recommend for us to jump in? My oldest daughter is more at the 4-5yo level with expressive language delays.

    Thanks!

Start with Laying Down the Rails and Laying down the Rails for Children. Also, The Early Years will guide you until age six if you allow it. Do not make the mistake of doing formal school too early. I have a kindergartner and we follow the SCM preschool guide and are having an awesome school year. Happy Reading. 🙂

    I agree with those recommendations!

I would also read Karen Andreola’s book – just to get your feet wet – Charlotte Mason Companion.

Also, I recommend slowly working your way through the whole SCM website to get the big picture. Then start focusing in on the relevant parts that apply to your family’s current homeschool needs. The forum archives are a wealth of information, but it can lead to feeling overwhelmed. I always find myself coming back to the SCM recommendations and feeling content that I didn’t try out everything else I read about. Just take it slowly and you will learn by trial and error what works for you. Also, the SCM blog series are awesome!
