Besides Cat of Bubastes, do you have any favorite GA Henty books?

By Pyke and by Dyke (maybe not spelled right)…only one we’ve done all the way through.  Librivox has an excellent recording of it.

We just bought the new audio Under Drakes Flag and my 6 year old son listens to it everyday.  There is a little romance in it, but it is tastefully done.  I personally love it, as well as many other lamplighter audios and books.  I know they aren’t Henty, but I thought I’d throw that out there since they are one of our best investments thus far (especially for my son.)

I like Wulf the Saxon about the Battle of Hastings, Harold II, and William the Conqueror. Jim Weiss produced an abridged 9 hour version of this that is well done.

Love the Lamplighter books too!  We are reading the lamplighter book,The Hidden Hand as a family read aloud…..my kids beg my husband to “read more, Daddy!”

The Hidden Hand is one of my favorite books in the world. If you like it, try Ishmael.
