I am wondering if I should buy a “Visits to the Middle East” notebook for my 2nd grader. Her sisters already have their notebooks. I believe she is at an age that she can follow along to the best of her ability with her older sisters. They are in grades: 5, 6, & 7. Thank you for your help in this.

We use these in our CM co-op with ages 6-18. The 6 year olds in 1st do just fine. We modify and let them write only the first letter of the country name, but they learn the info fantabulously!

We just started yesterday and did Visit 1. My 6yo (will be  7 in October) is in the very beginning stages of learning to read but really enjoyed having her own book along with her three big brothers. In the back of the book there is a list of the countries. I made a copy of it and put them in an envelope, cut out just the word Israel for the first lesson and let her glue it onto the page. She colored in the country, too, with a colored pencil. Since Israel starts with the short i sound I mentioned that, too. It was simple and fun!

With that said, at her age I am not expecting her to be with us for everything (she has two younger siblings to play with, too). The Bible chapters are a little long for her. I’ll pull her in whenever it seems to make sense and trust that she’ll get it all again someday.
