I need some advice please. I have a to be 7th grade son who is a reluctant writer.  We have been CMers all along so we are really just starting with regular narrations, though we have done hem intermittantly. Currently we are using Sequential Spelling, All in One English, and Writing Strands. He is doing fine in all, but it just makes sense to combine the LA. My question is whether ULW book 2 would be too simple for him. He is familiar with basic parts of speech and punctuation, but we have not done much formal grammar. My main goal for his 7th grade year is to get him writing well, a one page narration by thye end of the year would make me ecstatic. Does that seem reasonable? Would book 2 help us get there. I cannot get a good feel from the sample.

My daughter is just finishing 7th grade, and she has used the Spelling Wisdom book 2 and the corresponding Using Language Well  2 this year.  She was in a private school through grade 5.  We didn’t do grammar in 6th grade, because she needed a break ( they started it in 2nd grade).  Some of book

2 has been a review.  She often struggles with learning, so it has been about right.  She is writing 1 to 2 page long narrations.  She is not fond of writing, as oral narrations are easier, but is improving.
