So I have asked before about my boys and typing.  I never felt like I got a grip on this.  So this will be there 2nd year using Mavis Beacon and although they like it they can not get past the timed part.

So my question is this.  Should I sit by them and have them hit the keys I ask for and spell a couple words.  If I feel they know where they all are have them just do there typing on the keyboard (like Microsoft works ) doing there bible verse or spelling?  If not re-start them over on Mavis?

What are you thoughts?  How do you handle typing?

I don’t have a real answer since we aren’t doing this yet, but… I didn’t have a typing class and I do pretty well,  I figured out where the keys are and just through sheer use I have gotten it down.  If they know where the keys are, why not do something more interesting than stressing over the speed?  Surely, the speed will come with practical practice as well as a “meaningless” exercise???  =)
