I have not read the Trial and Death of Socrates but have assigned it to my son for his history reading (we are using SCM module 2) and I don’t have any clue what kind of narration to ask for.  I have read the SCM narration ideas. We came to narrations late in his schooling so they don’t come naturally to him although he loves to read.

He told me that the selection he read was so interesting he didn’t want to stop reading when I suggested that he split it up in different segments and do shorter narrations.

Any hints on what kind of narrations to ask for in regards to this book?

I’m glad he’s finding it interesting! You might turn your not having read the book into an advantage in this case, and ask him to tell you about it since you haven’t read it. Anything and everything he can remember, his opinions on what he read, his evaluation of the characters . . . just ask him to get you “up to speed” on the book.

Thank you, Sonya.  He’s not very verbal so I always think I need to give him more specific guidelines when having him give a narration but these ideas will tell me a lot about what he’s absorbing.

    Thanks again.
