Just looking for tips/techniques for dealing with kids who fuss and complain. My two middle kids are getting so incredibly whiny that I really am starting to dread the school day. We cannot finish a day without someone crying. Its over anything that requires effort on their part and its spilling over into household chores too. Today my 8 y/o daughter cried because I asked her to empty thr dishwasher. And let me be clear-my kids are not struggling learners or anything-the work I give them is on level. I just really don’t know how to deal with this-help??

Hi there! I can sympathize! My solution was to assign more of whatever task the child complained about. Whining about a paragraph of copy work? Okay-you can write two paragraphs! You think its too much work to unload the dishwasher? Then you can load it as well.

Of course I tried to do this with a loving and gentle spirit and I was careful to make sure that I wasn’t requiring too much of them. I also tried to show compassion and understanding
