Rene, thanks for that. Though I do not think that I have to call upon the correct name of the Messiah to be saved, I know I am saved. I appreciate you taking the time to post that for me! Blessings to you!

Rachel, no offence to anyone else, but this is where I am on this subject also. I do believe that others who call on “Jesus” are “getting through” also. But I just know it was not what He was called when He was here, and all those scriptures that Rene posted about His name, just re-affirms that we need to call upon His name, (but I do understand that it is “Jesus” in the KJV, and lots of other versions, and some people may never want to know more on the subject!) I just want to know more about it, and the many names that He is called, because I want to know Him closer. I have emailed a couple of trusted believers who I really look up to, and they pretty much say it isn’t important. I also understand that we are believing the the Son of the Father, and who He is.

I thank everyone who has replied, I guess others do think on this also! I think if anyone wants to look further, great, if not, thats ok also. Not trying to say that if you dont call on the name He was called on when He was here, you are wrong, or less spiritual. I dont think that at all! This is just for me personally, and truthfully, my husband is not interested in the subject! (not trying to disrepect, just saying.)

Rachel, I will email you directly, thanks so much everyone, you are all great!! This site has provided our family with lots of great info on CM and her method. <3

If you want to look at the name of Messiah from a Hebraic Perspective check out this article “The Name, Jesus” by Dwight Pryor….

I think the last paragraphy sums it up beautifully…

“His name is extraordinarily meaningful to us but it is not a magic formula. How one says it is not as important as how one carries it. To walk in obedience to Christ’s commands and to conduct ourselves in ways that sanctify the name of his Father in heaven is the biblical way to honor the name, Jesus.”

I just know it was not what He was called when He was here

As was stated elsewhere, the name that He was called here was translated Jesus.  In Luke 1:31, the angel foretells the birth of the Savior and tells Mary what she is to call Him.  This is the name that He would have been called when He was here.  Those who knew Him, referenced Him, spoke to Him, etc. would have used the name given to Him by His mother, Mary.

Philippians 2:9 is referring to a name that GOD gave Him.  My first thought is that if God hasn’t revealed that name in His Holy Word, I doubt any other source that can be printed and/or read or studied may not be completely authoritative.  But, further, if you look at this word and the one in the OT which is repeatedly used by the verses about calling on His name, (anyone correct me if I’m wrong), it does not necessarilty mean an acual NAME, but could actually be more of ‘authority’, character’, giving the sense of ‘notoriety’. The OT word also gives the idea of definite and conspicuous position, a mark or memorial of indiviuality, by implication, ‘honor, authority, character. Bo

It seems to be similar in a sense to the term we would use when saying that “someone has made a name for himself.” In that situation, the person did not give themselves and actual name that he can be called.  But rather, he is known well in many circles-by his own amibitions.  God has made Jesus to be known throughout the world, through all of history and eternity-not by Christ’s amibitions, but God gave Him that position.  I’m not so sure it is an actual name, but it could be.  But again, if God hasn’t revealed it in His Word, where can it be found?  How can we truly know it?

Knowing Him more means knowing HIM.  It could be argued that if you don’t know my name, you probably don’t know me very well.  But, OTOH,  if you know my name to be the name that has been given you, then you could know me thru and thru and never learn a secret name that I might have.  We could be as close as is possible here on earth and you may never learn my secret name…..unless I reveal it to you.  And, if you do learn that secret name, by some means, it doesn’t mean you know ME any better.  In fact, someone may learn my secret name and not really know me, just more ABOUT me.  Knowing my secret name is not the means to knowing me; but rather, knowing me is the means to knowing my secret name.
