Just had to share a link from the homeschool author Janice Campbell, to a blog series she did on raising boys.  Loved these three blog posts and am  hoping all the other moms of boys out there will too!  The link is to the first of the three posts; links to the other two parts are under “recent posts” on this page.

Thanks, Michelle, for sharing this. I found all 3 posts encouraging & inspiring. It makes me wonder what my 2 boys will grow into. They’re only 6 and 4.5 months, but they’re very different from my girls. Well, the 6 year old is, it’s a bit early to tell with the baby. I am very glad that I’ve (thus far) given all of my children the opportunity to explore, to try & to fail, all without being overly worried most of the time. It is a joy to watch them grow in every way!

    Blessings,

What a great article.  I will pass this on to other moms I know of boys.  It’s so easy to “worry” and forget to let them live.  I did why can’t I let them?? Also the following article on learning styles was a nice way to use the stories to continue on that.

Bookworm.. is most her stuff geared toward older children (not this article in general) or toward all parts of families?  Also is there a way to get these sent to my email.. that is the articles?

Misty, most of her main site http://www.everyday-education.com/home/index.shtml does deal with high school and college preparation.  Her blog is often about a wider range of topics and she is working up some series on practical life skills and other topics with a wider application.  If you go to her main page, there is a box on the left to sign up for her twice-monthly newsletter, which contains links to her articles, blog posts and other things she has going.  You get a freebie writing rubric too.

Thanks for sharing!  Those were great.  Reminded me of the last few days with my two boys.  It has been an adventure!  They have brought me or called for me to come and see various creatures…. a snake that our dog was trying to get, salamanders, frogs, insects galore!  Oh and the frog that had died sometime last year then froze in the creek bed, they were fascinated over this one because the bones were sticking out and the skin was still on it (it was sooooo gross!!  lol ).  They always ask for me to take pictures of what they have found, with their big grins in the shot of course!

Then the various building projects, usually I have no idea what they are actually trying to accomplish.  But they do!  At 7 & 8 they are not all that successful yet, but they keep trying!  Give them a pile of wood, hammer and nails and they stay busy.  Wink

As they are showing me the bugs, insects, little frogs (sometimes big ones), snakes ect… all the things I do not really care for…  It’s easy to have a smile on face because I see the huge one on theirs.  It’s so worth all the gross stuff!!
