I’m looking at the Great Courses catalog…BIG sale till Aug 26th!!  I’ve not used these before, other than checking one out at the library which was an extremely worn out audio…I think it was really good…but could barely make it out!

Anyway, I’m looking at Biology, Chemistry, World History, American History,  and one on meditation…mostly.  They all sound so good!  Can anyone help me choose?  If you used any of these (they are the high school courses), how did you like them?  Any thoughts welcome!

Then there’s one for PE, one on the human body, mental math…I could go for those too.  But obviuosly, all of them would be too much…even with a great sale.

I am less impressed with the “high school” level courses.  We just go straight for the good stuff.  Many of them ARE very good.  What are the interests of your children?  Would one benefit from having a basic subject in lecture form?  Or are they better with books?  Does one have a special interest that one of the courses would help him explore?  Read the ratings at the bottoms of the pages for each course–I’ve often found that helpful in choosing.  I don’t have time today to list the ones we’ve done.  But we bought only one high school course, and ended up reselling it.

My dd12 did a Greece one last year before traveling to Greece and Turkey. She simply watched bc of her age, but it was helpful. She enjoyed it.

Thanks again! I’ll give that some thought, check the ratings and look into the college level courses.
