This is not about the first Thanksgiving, but is a tradition with us. A Thanksgiving Story In Vermont-1852, by Jeff Barth. “Experience life in rural Vermont as you travel with the Bartons through an unexpected blizzard to visit Grandpa and Grandma in Stowe on Thanksgiving Day, 1852. A surprising guide helps to bring them safely to their destination.”
We do something similar to Advent with Thanksgiving where we read a little day from various books. We have a calendar that I made out of felt with paper corn cobs in each pocket. Each corn cob has a Bible verse on it. We take them out and read the verse each day and then each person writes on a card something they are thankful for (for 21 days) and we put those in the pockets. I keep the cards every year. It’s fun to go back and see what people were thankful for (especially the little ones!).
