I would love some recommendations for Thanksgiving books for 4/6 year old boys. thanks!!!
Sonya ShaferModeratorThe Thanksgiving Story by Alice Dalgliesh is one of our favorites.
There’s also Squanto and the Miracle of Thanksgiving.
CindySParticipantThis is not about the first Thanksgiving, but is a tradition with us. A Thanksgiving Story In Vermont-1852, by Jeff Barth. “Experience life in rural Vermont as you travel with the Bartons through an unexpected blizzard to visit Grandpa and Grandma in Stowe on Thanksgiving Day, 1852. A surprising guide helps to bring them safely to their destination.”
CindySParticipantOh, and one more: An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving, by Louisa May Alcott. Maybe not appealing because it’s about girls, but hilarious.
Cindie2ddsMemberThe Thanksgiving Story by Alice Dalgliesh is the one I was going to recommend also! We are going to start reading it in about a week.
I would be interested to hear what others say!
PollyParticipantWe do something similar to Advent with Thanksgiving where we read a little day from various books. We have a calendar that I made out of felt with paper corn cobs in each pocket. Each corn cob has a Bible verse on it. We take them out and read the verse each day and then each person writes on a card something they are thankful for (for 21 days) and we put those in the pockets. I keep the cards every year. It’s fun to go back and see what people were thankful for (especially the little ones!).
I recommend the above books as well. We’ve really liked: http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?isbn=1581345380&event=AFF&p=1018699 this resource as well. It works for all ages.
I also really like A 30 day Thanksgiving Journal by Sheri Graham.
