I received a Kindle Fire for Christmas (yay!) and have been attempting to upload my SCM ebooks.  I’ve been using the myname@kindle.com approach, but thus far, most (but not all) of my attempts have failed.  The email response I’ve received says my documents have been quarantined because they didn’t pass the virus protection.  Anyone have advice on how to navigate this situation?  TIA!

What about plugging in your Kindle and drag and drop the files right into documents?

I wanted one too. I wasn’t sure if I would use it because of all the reading up I would have to do just to get the thing to work for me. I think I would have to have someone come help me who was computer savy. That way I wouldn’t wrack my brain trying to do something that would seem so simple and I make it so difficult. Who knows maybe someday I will get around to it. Maybe I will get that Kindle.  I didn’t get it because of the glare also. I think that was  the thing that sealed the deal I am hoping they will come out with a new one with a matte screen with no glare.Undecided I guess I just want to much huh? Good Luck with the thing. Let me know how it goes because I am curious what I was seriously getting myself in for.

Any chance you have a virus?

can you do it through the wire?

Sometimes Amazon will give that message if it just can’t read the file for some reason, for example if the file was too large for your e-mail server and got partially cut off and damaged. I would double-check that your anti-virus software is up to date and run a full scan just in case, though. The files from SCM are clean so if it really was infected with something it would have happened after you downloaded it.

What is the format of the SCM e-books?

If they are PDF, then the Kindle Fire should be able to handle them. You would just need to hook up your Kindle Fire via USB cable then copy-paste those books into your Documents folder directly from your computer. I have done this already with several PDF e-books and have not had any issues. Matter of fact, I am thrilled it works so well on the Fire.

I am interested in doing this myself with SCM e-books, but definitely need to know the formatting of them Winkbefore I purchase.

    Thanks!

Most are PDF’s (and the ones I have are fine on my Kindle(v3)  3G rotated).  There was one free ebook that you could get in Kindle format – and apparently another one coming soon.

Yes, most of our e-book are PDF format. We just released a new free book, The Way of the Will, tonight that is available in PDF, Kindle, and ePub (iPad, Nook, and others.) The other book we have in all three formats is A Thinking Love, which is also a freebie.

    I. I recieved a Kindle Fire for Christmas. too. I really wanted to be able to download “free” books and pdf files. I did find a way to get books and files off the web to my kindle. I am not very tech smart but I will try to explain the process. I just transfered the Will book and this is what I did :

1- Go to website with the book or file link

2- Choose type file to download. I downloaded the “kindle” file. and click download. A box will pop up that says downloading file.

3-Click the Home icon on the bottom of your screen and go Apps

4- In the apps you have a Quick Office App. Click on it

5- There will be a button to browse. You will search internal storage.

6- click on download file folder

7- check the box on the right and then click the scissor icon at the bottom of the screen

    8- click the back arrow

9 click the document. file folder

10- click the clipboard icon to paste file.

At this point you need to restart your kindle. So you need to hold the power button and click “yes, shut off”

Turn your kindle back on and itshould be in the document tab.

Again, I am new to this. I found this hint on a chat board. One SCM book ended up in my books and others in my docs. I don’t know why. But I can read them on the kindle anytime, with or with out wifi

Yesterday, I just copied and pasted PDF books from my main computer to my Fire. I just hooked up my Fire with its USB cord, and dragged/dropped files. I did not many of those steps you listed Wink

All I did was save the PDFs to my “homeschooling” folder on my computer, opened another window to show my fire, and copied/pasted those books into my Fire’s “documents” folder….done LOL

I just wanted to be sure that if I purchase the SCM e-books for our next school year they will transfer okay. If they are PDF, then I am a very happy camper LOL

I know its easy to transfer files with a computer and a usb cable. This is a simple way to download books directly to your kindle fire without using a computer. I was able to download the book, transfer the file as mentioned and started reading the book while I waited at the Dr’s office…
