I have a hard time stretching our money to include snacks as well.  Ours are often:

    • tea/cocoa (they add sugar and milk to the tea)
    • fruit or applesauce
    • yogurt
    • veggies with ranch dressing
    • cheese (I slice my own with a box grater to save money), sometimes with crackers
    • popcorn (microwave or air pop with a little butter)
    • trail mixes using what’s on hand (dried cranberry, almond, choc. chips are a favorite)
    • muffins (leftover from breakfast)
    • ice cream–this is a big treat and I try to serve it when we have a lighter dinner like fish or soup

I always have plans to make cookies, granola bars, etc. but it doesn’t happen very often!   We sometimes buy snack foods when they are on sale, but they don’t last long here either!

On the days when I’m a good home-maker, I have homemade yogurt available.  They LOVE that for snack.  We add granola or a bit of cereal or jelly to it.

But on those days, I’m a bad homeschool mom……So, I guess it just goes in spurts!
