  • Hello Ladies!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted.  Our computer crashed about a month ago and we had to wait to get it replaced.  But I’m back online again!  Yeah!

I have a question.  I’m wanting to start doing story starters with my boys.  I would like to at some point purchase Karen Andreolas book on this.  But for now am not able.  So I’m looking for other ideas.  I’m having a complete mind blank on coming up with ideas for story starters of my own.  Embarassed  I think that my two boys would love to do this.  I’m just needing ideas to get them going.

    thanks so much!

Why don’t you take books they love and ask them to change the ending?  Like Charlotte’s Web or Pinnochio.

Your post reminded me of something I saw on abcteach.com called “First Sentences.” Basically, you write the first sentence of a novel and have the student write a story from it. The idea is to compare it to the original. I think the exercise was supposed to be done before the book was read, but I suppose you could use a book they’ve already read. How many first sentences do you remember of the books you’ve read, anyway?

    HTH,

    Karen
