We are in our 6th year homeschooling. Finally got to SOTW 2 at the end of last year and kept going with it this year, but I’m just not enjoying it as much as I’d like and I’m ready to move further into CM. I’m trying to decide where to pick up using SCM. I’m thinking Module 3 b/c there’s a guide! It’ll get me going and maybe when I’m ready to move on Module 4 will be done… ???
I enjoyed SOTW but I find that I’m treating it more like a text… I want BOOKS!
Suggestions on where to start?
Sonya ShaferModeratorSOTW 2 covers Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation, right? Two questions come to mind:
1. How far have you gotten in Book 2?
2. How much did Book 1 cover Ancient Rome? (Just trying to see whether module 3 would be too much of the same thing the kids just finished with.)
tandc93ParticipantWe covered Diocletian, Constantine, Stilicho, and Romulus Agustus (up to about 475 ad). It probably would be too much, huh?
We have just finished Ch. 7 in SOTW 2–covered the fall of Rome, early days of Britain, Christianity comes to Britain, Byzantine empire, Indian Empire, and Islam…
However what we’ve done in 2 has been pretty superficial…(sheepishly admitted)
SOTW 2 covers from the fall of Rome to the rise of the Renaissance.
THANKS!
tandc93ParticipantLooking back over the table of contents, it probably is too much the same on the historical people. Unfortunately I didn’t include so much of the rest of it in… 🙁
So when’s the next guide for Module 4 due to come out?
Sonya ShaferModeratorLord willing, the handbook for module 4 will be out in the spring (2010).
