We are creating a family creed/manual of sorts (for lack of a better name!) — where we’re summarizing all of the traits that mark our family. One is prayer and I am looking for stories from history and literature that illustrate the power and beauty of prayer. Do any come to mind?
I’m hoping for shorter stories — not necessarily long books — that we could read in one sitting.
MonicaParticipantThe story of Saint Augustine’s mother Monica is a great example of the power of prayer.
psreitmomParticipantHero Tales: A Family Treasury of True Stories from the Lives of Christian Heroes, by Dave & Neta Jackson
There are at least 3 volumes. I was thinking of a story about George Mueller, which may be included in one of these books. These stories you could read in one setting.
Hope to LearnParticipantPrayers that Change History by Tricia Gover has been greatly enjoyed by our family and we are able to read one chapter in one sitting. Each chapter has the individual’s story (and their prayer), but also a short Bible story and challenging life questions. There is a sample of the book on Christianbook.com to give you a better idea of it:

Psalm31ParticipantReformation Heroes is excellent!
