I have 8.5 year olds who are not priting letters the correct way.  Ii’s been my fault since i let them get away with it.  They started cursive last year because they loved it and wanted to do it.  Their cursive is really good and letters are formed correctly.  WE didn’t finish all the cursive letters but i am wondering if i should go back and retrain them in printing this summer.  Iwant to do more copy next year-not sure what type of writing to do for that either.

    any suggestions?

I suggest continuing with cursive and finishing teaching all of the cursive letters and connections. I’m assuming (perhaps, incorrectly) that your long term goal is cursive. At our house, we start with cursive now and then if they want to learn to print later, that’s fine. However, all of our work is in cursive from the get go. If at some point, you want them to practice printing, hand them the HWT printing workbook and they’ll probably be able to do it on their own.

On the other hand, train them in what you want them to use, if that’s print, then work on that instead.
