My 15 yr old loves to read and I currently have her reading Emma by Jane Austen but she seems to have to slow her reading down a bit to fully comprehend its content…Are there any books for literature for 10th grade that seem to flow easier but still have great impact?

I missed this the first time through, and I’m sure you’ve found your way at this point.  I was wondering how  your daughter did with Emma.  Did she seem to comprehend it pretty well – even though she needed to slow down a bit to really “digest” it?

I just wanted to encourage you to allow her to read some things that make her slow down a bit.  As long as she is not being discouraged by the effort, a good wrestle with great literature is not a waste.  With my kiddos, at least, it seems that the time they spend in this type of endeavor has made some of the best impact on their academic growth. 🙂

Does she like Shakespeare’s plays at all? I remember loving Shakespeare when I was her age… My favorites were A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, and Taming of the Shrew.
