  • Sonya,

I just received my calendar book, the 2011-2012 School Year version, and it is wonderful yet again. I just wanted to say thanks for keeping things clean, clear and simple. So many planners for school are full of busy and I love simple, so this is idea to keep me on track and ideal for school and home. I give you top marks for this and the cover alone is so beautiful and makes me feel relaxed just looking at it. Bless you. Linda

Ditto! I just received my journal yesterday. It is absolutely wonderful. Of course, I have yet to order an SCM product that I didn’t love.

So, just curious, how/when do you use the calendar journal? I have a homemade CM organization folder that contains my calendar, and behind that it is sorted by subjects. I am not sure if I would take time to journal or not, although the idea sounds great. But I might could be talked into buying it if i know how moms really use it! 🙂

I am also curious. Is this a “planner” or a “journal”. Basically meaning is it empty pages or somewhat orgaized into sections?

It is a very simply laid out calendar with a place for notes in the back.  What makes it paticularly appealing is that Sonya has included tons of quotes and inspiring things from Charlotte in Sonya’s usual uplifting and inspiring way.  Here is a link for the sample download:

I jot down in my journal the neat or unsual happenings of our day, beyond the already written down topics.  This gives me another record of our day in more detail, and can potentially help me know what might need to be included in the next rotation of that topic.

Thanks so much for the encouragement, ladies! The cover photo is from the Lake District in England, where Charlotte lived. Maybe that’s why you are drawn to the scene, Linda. Wink

I like to use my calendar journal strictly for non-school things. It’s my personal journal in which I jot down what I’m thankful for each day. Usually those notes also reveal what was going on in my life at the time, so my little collection of journals is also fun to look back through. I use it for my personal prayer time and mother culture, jotting down books I’m reading for myself (as opposed to for schoolwork) and noting Scripture passages that comfort, encourage, or challenge me as I come across them.

That was helpful, Sonya, thank you. I use the SCM organizer so was wondering what I would use the journal for even though it looked great. I think a mother culture journal sounds really great :o)

I had been using my planner for school and for my own notes and things, but I think I will now use it for myself in the way you do Sonya – that is such a lovely idea, and I would like a place to keep my own personal thoughts etc. The girls pretty much keep their own planners now, so apart from a master list of what we are using for the year and that I get while using the SCM planning book – I don’t need to write in school things – so I will use this years for me. I love the Lake District Sonya and spent many vacations in the area, so yes, that must be why I was drawn to the cover. Either way, it is beautiful. Thanks. Linda

Linda, dear, when we get old and toddling around, would you please take me to England with you and show me all your favorite spots? Smile

Oh dear Sonya I am thinking I am already old and toddling around! Seriously,

that would be a dream – I have always wanted to take someone off the beaten path of the usual touristy things and show them the true England. Of course the touristy stuff is wonderful, but the real country is beyond that, just like it is here. Maybe a tour with all retired SCM mums – now that would be fun as well. Dreaming is fun sometimes…
