I have read that many of you have used simply music and I was wondering if you think that it is appropriate for a 5 year old. Will his hands be big enough to play the piano? Could he really do it or should we wait? We are considering it for Christmas.

I’m sure he could do it! Its very simple for even small hands.

Do you have a library you could check it out from so that you could preview it first? If you do, I found a copy from our library under the title of “Music to Begin With- level 1”.

I’m sure others who have been with simply music longer might want to add. Caroline, maybe?? 🙂

What a great idea for a Christmas gift!

I have just recently started using Pianimals with my 6yo. She is small and has tiny fingers but Pianimals has been perfect. She is having such a good time with it and progressing quickly. I know it’s not what you asked about, but I just thought I’d throw another consideration in there 🙂

    All the best,

We received this in the mail a couple days ago! I am doing with my 10yo dd and my 6yo ds. My ds has long thin fingers so he can reach okay. I will recommend it though because it is a non-intimidating way to learn piano and you move at your own pace. If you son struggles a bit let him spend more time practicing the lesson. If it still doesn’t work you can just put it away for a few months until he grows, but give him a chance and see if he can. We all know that if our children are determined to so something they will find a way!

I observed that the man who invented the program has small hands.
