Wow that’s a good deal for the Kindle!  I ordered it over the summer, but bought a print copy.

Nebby, do you mind sharing how you use it?  We are currently going through the Poetry for Young People book on Shakespeare, but I’d like to use this later this year.

Holly–sorry to be slow; I hadn’t checked this site in a couple of days. I like to read a narrative version of whatever play we are doing from Lamb or Nesbit. We do that slowly over a number of sittings since they are so dense with action. We alternate that with me reading then corresponding portions from How To Teach… It’s not written to be read aloud to the kids but that’s how I do it. Last year we spent time actually memorizing the passages he discusses but this year we’re not. I just hope they sink in with some repetition 😉 I really love how he discusses Shakespeare’s language and explains how the bard uses language.

I’ve enjoyed this book as an inspiration for me to study Shakespeare with my daughter. I’ve been diving into some of the tougher areas of a CM education and looking for inspiration in these areas. While I don’t plan on using this book’s methods, I am enjoying it as a living book written by a man who is passionate about Shakespeare.

I’ve also been reading CM blog posts about Shakespeare as well as searching this forum and the AO forum to read how other moms “do” Shakespeare in their homes. All of this has inspired me to actually be excited about diving into our first real Shakespeare play next term!
