I noticed on the Lost Classics site that they have a developed a new teacher’s guide for the Serl books. I am tempted only because I’ve heard people say they had trouble figuring out how to use the Primary(which I’m going to use)and Intermediate Language Lessons. On the Other hand, I balk at teacher’s guide’s, the only one I’ve ever used were the Beechick guides for McGuffey and Ray’s; but I want to use the books as they were originally menat to be used.
Any opinions on this? They are here:

live2inspireParticipantJust want to say thanks, Rachel, for the link. I’m very curious what seasoned moms think of using this teacher’s guide. I purchased Primary Language Lessons a couple of years ago (before I learned of CM’s approach) and I agree that it’s a little tricky to figure out. My daughter and I didn’t really like using it (although I really did like the simplistic approach), but in seeing the sample pages of the teacher’s guide, I think I may go back to it with my 2nd grader and do Intermediate Language Lessons with my 4th grader. (???) (I was pleased to see it in the SCM bookfinder, which I am guessing means this book is CM approved?)
Anxiously, but very patiently :), waiting for someone….anyone…???…to give their thoughts on the guide. 😉
Sonya ShaferModeratorI didn’t even know a teacher’s guide was available for Serl’s, so I’m afraid I can’t comment on that. But I did want to clarify:
I was pleased to see it in the SCM bookfinder, which I am guessing means this book is CM approved?
If it’s in the Bookfinder, that means other CM moms use it and have recommended it. If it has a little green “CM” beside the title in the Search Results page, that means Karen or I would personally recommend it.
Now back to seeing if anybody else has used the teacher’s guide . . . 🙂
Rachel WhiteParticipantThe guide seems to be brand new; so much so that they are offering the introductory special. I, too liked the sample pages I read so I have to decided to get it. It seemd to make sense in the same vein as the McGuffey’s and Ray’s in terms of my needing guidance on using them; I’m sure the teachers who used them originally knew what to do with them.
