I just put together our SCM Memory Box, and wrote out a bunch of verse cards. But I think I did it WRONG!

We tend to memorize LONG passages, about half a chapter. I wrote out these LONG passages on one card. Then when

I think about trying to do a daily card, and odd card, and the # of the month card, my eyes cross as that is a lot to try to

memorize! My oldest is in 6th.

My question is:  Should I have writtien out the passages on each card one or two verses long, and just put it on

    seperate cards?

For those of you who have done this with longer passages, please help me with the HOW.

    Thanks

    Kelly

I use a mixture of long, medium size, short and very short verses and it seems to balance out when we do 3 verses. We didn’t start that long ago so we don’t have enough to do all the days of the month cards yet.

After memorizing all of Psalm 23 when we get to a long one I can remind them that they were able to memorize that so they can memorize other ones as well, however long it’ll take..

I put long passages on 1 card (actually copied from Bible Gateway and printed on paper that’s cut down and/or folded in half). It stays in daily til learned. At the same time, we learn a few shorted verses. Dd6 will learn psalm 150 during our first 6 weeks, as well as a poem and our table manners list. She is also slipping in one or two Foundation Verses. Older dc will have different verses but do it the same way. Each of my kids has their own SMS box. On Fridays we recite our current verses together.

    Just one idea.
