Cheryl, you should be able to substitute a different artist as desired. The page numbers won’t match up, but the lesson plan structure can remain the same. For example, if the lesson plan says to read half of the biography, you could read half the biography of your selected artist even if the page numbers are different. If the lesson plan says to do a picture study of one picture, you can do a picture study of one of the pictures of your selected artist; it doesn’t matter which one. The lesson plans walk you through eight pictures, and since there are eight pictures in each Portfolio, everything should come out even in the end regardless of which artist you use.
Do you have a date yet for the release of the older grades of the individual studies? I’m trying to decide if I need to go ahead and plan out our lessons for my, will be, 7th grader or wait to purchase your guide (fingers crossed) if it’s available by the fall.
Thank you so much for letting me know. I’ll prepare to use your planning guide for this coming year and look forward to the 8th grade guide, hopefully for the following year!
I am just finding the “Keep it Simple” Lessons. Do you purchase the lesson plans, then add on the individual enrichment studies? (i.e. artist, hymn, poem) What does one year cost? (Priced for one child, although I will purchase for two)
Also, do the individual studies include copywork and such already?

With all three lesson plan books in the Keep It Simple series, you’ll have a full CM curriculum plan for an entire school year. The history/geography/Bible plans are plans for the whole family; the Enrichment Studies guide gives you plans for all of the enrichment subjects for the whole family; and the Individual Studies guides give you plans for one grade.
The cost will depend on whether you get the books new or used, or if you can borrow some of the books from your library. The complete book lists are in the free samples for every guide so that you can search for the needed resources ahead of time if you like.
As always, we don’t like to give release dates because we don’t want people to be disappointed if we have to move things back. That said, we’d love to have Individual Studies for Grades 5 and 6 ready in time for the next school year. That may change depending on how writing/publishing/printing goes on those and other upcoming products; we have a lot of irons in the fire right now.
