    thowell,

There isn’t a “compiled book list” on the SCM site that I know of. There are literally hundreds of books to use for each subject during each grade level…thus the beauty of the CM Method! If you know what subjects you’re doing and need help finding CM-friendly books for those subject, I would suggest going into the Bookfinder on this site, specifying the subject and grade level, and just see what comes up.

And, when it comes to the library, my librarians are some of my best homeschooling tools. I don’t know my way around a library very well, nor do I have the time to browse for hours like I’d want to. I am able to email the librarian a couple of weeks ahead of time, and she always finds more books than I’d ever need on just about anything–especially picture study and composer study. I also give them requests for specific books, and they either find them for me that day or have them sent through inter-library loan. And our library allows me to keep books for 6 weeks if I need. In over a year of home educating, I bet I’ve only spent about $200 on books–almost half of which was our math curriculum. The rest I get from the library.

    Hope that’s helpful!
