I have done quite a bit of searching and have not found a good source for merging SCM with SOTW. I think that the Biblical content of SCM is of utmost importance, but would like to use SOTW for some additional stories and information. Has anyone used these together?

We are – I’m combining SCM Mod. 1-3 and using it with SoTW v. 1.  However, we’re doing it very wiggly! *L*  Basically, I have an idea of the coloring pages/maps that I want to use from SoTW and I’m just throwing those in where it suits in SCM.

We’re not using the Bible passages from SCM Mod. 1-3.  I’m just picking and choosing the OT stories that I want to touch on.  For the NT I’m planning to have them listen to the Your Story Hour’s Acts of the Apostles.

So maybe we’re not really combining them Laughing.  I’m just making up my own curriculum using SCM and SotW.  *L*  Whatever it is I’m doing, it’s not very stressful and we’re enjoying it.

Do you have a lesson plan/document/something that you would be willing to share?

I’d be happy to – if I can figure it out! 🙂

My planning spreadsheet is a sheet in a bigger excel spreadsheet – do you know how i can just separate out that one tab to send it? I know how to send it (via email) but not how to separate out that one tab.

Here are some threads that maybe helpful.

https://simplycharlottemason.com/scmforum/topic/story-of-the-world-scm-mod-1 – there is a link from andream in here, although it is not her actual list. It is a fun link, though.

TA DA!!  I think this is the link that andream was looking for:

Here is the specific schedule she typed in:

Yes, I will share : ) That’s what this forum is all about! I’m sure there are better ways to line it up, but this is what I came up with. i will confess at the end my brain was starting to hurt and so at the end I might have just stuck something somewhere b/c I was tired ; ) I also added in some activities from the OT days book, so I will write those in while I am typing. I also wrote the student page numbers that go w/ the chapters of SOTW, so if you have the guide that goes w/ it you can add those in. A few of the activities came from the website I listed earlier. We did the SCM more like a history Bible Study. We would read the Bible together. We then used the Bible story books to read together in the car and when we would go to the beach in the evening, ect.. Then we would fill in the time line with SOTW when we were close to the time it went in. We just used the stories to read through the fill in times .  Thought the books were so good we didn’t want to miss out on the stories in the time line. It made it so much better. This year we are going to implement some Netflix into the curriculm. One mother blogged it all out. what to watch with what chapter in SOTW. So I thought I would try that also. Every little thiing works !

Chocodog, can you link to the blog? We are doing Ancient History and I planned to add some Netflix, but not sure which ones are appropriate. We used SOTW1 4 years ago. We are using MOH this time, but would like the documentaries.
