Yes, in AO they are considered lit books.  Personal Development is generally done through lit.    (And they don’t consider Parables from Nature as being Science – as it is the lessons in the parables that is being taught…)

Wow, I hadn’t looked at the actual charts before since I do my own combo and therefore my own schedule.  That DOES feel choppy!  And it’s not the way I understood CM to do her school.  I am really confused now.  I really thought she said a chapter a week at a time from one book, not spread over several weeks like that.  That *would* be really confusing to get back into the story.  My kids would never handle that OK.  Even I, an avid reader, would find that so irritating!  I would never choose to read books in that fashion, why are they doing it that way?  Has a reason been given for that sort of schedule?

Which year did you look at? Year 1 is setup WAY more choppy than other years……

I looked at Year 3.  Have you found anything in her books or on the AO website about this at all?  I’m going to have to do some more studying.

@Sara – there is more information on this idea in the Books and Things Seminar. Here is a thread with some of Sonya’s information:

Here is a thread with a chart compiled by Christie (missceegee) that probably will help you visualize this:

    Hope this helps.

Oh, yes, I have seen those and reference them often in my planning.  Thanks.  🙂  But AO assigns things even more spread it, we are seeing, like this:

    Week 1     1 chapter from Book 1

    Week 2     1 chapter from Book 2

    Week 3     1 chapter from Book 3

    Week 4     1 chapter from Book 1

    and so on

If I am reading the chart right on AO’s website, that is…  It seems wrong to me.  This is what we do:

    Week 1     1 chapter from Book 1

Week 2     next chapter from Book 1

Week 3     next chapter from Book 1

etc until Book 1 is finished

    Week x     1 chapter from Book 2

Week y      next chapter from Book 2

Week z      next chapter from Book 2

etc until Book 2 is finished

Week aa    1 chapter from Book 3

Week bb    next chapter from Book 3

Week cc     next chapter from Book 3

etc until Book 3 is finished

    So which is “right?”
